This law grants a reduction of up to 100% on Industrialized Products Taxes (IPI) for goods developed and produced in the Country. In return, 5% of the revenues obtained from the sales of products under the incentives of this law, should be invested in Research and Development, out of which, 1,8% are to be invested in partnership with R&D institutions, such as CITS. To be eligible for these benefits, the company should apply to the Ministry of Science and Technology (MCT) and to comply with the applicable requirements.
Since its foundation, in 1992, CITS has developed more than 350 projects in the area of Information Technology - 85% of which are under the incentives of the law. All of these projects were developed in compliance with the standards required by the law, in terms of costs, schedule and, primarily, in terms of quality. More than 200 highly qualified professionals compose CITS "intellectual capital."
Accredited by MCT since 1994, as an R&D institution, CITS also provides guidance, works out and follow-up the whole registration process at the MCT, for companies willing to become eligible and to benefit from the incentives of the law. For companies already using the incentives, CITS offers to act as manager of the corresponding resources. CITS also maintains partnership with other R&D institutions (located in less developed regions of the country) which have priority for investments under the law (such as the North, Northeast and Center-west regions).
